SPEAKERS
Dr. Desmond Ryan B.L. is a practising barrister in the Law Library, where he has been specialising exclusively in Employment Law since commencing practice in 2006, and is a CEDR accredited Mediator. He is also called to the Bar of England and Wales and the Bar of Northern Ireland. Des advises on all aspects of Employment Law and appears very regularly before the WRC, the Labour Court, and the Superior Courts. An Associate Professor and Fellow at Trinity College Dublin where he lectures in Employment Law. He is a founding member and current committee member of the Employment Law Association of Ireland, and an active member of the Employment Bar Association. He has published extensively and is the author of the new edition of Redmond on Dismissal Law, published in 2026. His publications have been widely cited, including in judgments of the High Court, Court of Appeal, and Supreme Court of Ireland and the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom.
Mr. Mark Finan B.L. is a barrister with a broad civil litigation practice including employment law. He has particular expertise in data protection law, AI, and emerging technologies. He also advises clients on GDPR compliance, regulatory investigations, and data governance.
Ms. Pauline O Hare, Solicitor and Senior Legal Director, Employment Law Services, Ibec and a graduate of University College Dublin, where she obtained a Bachelor of Civil Laws degree and a Masters in Commercial Law. Pauline previously worked in private practice before joining Ibec’s Employment Law Services Unit, where she advises employers on both contentious and non-contentious matters. Pauline specialises in employment law and industrial relations and engages with key stakeholders on policy matters at both a national and EU level
