SPEAKERS

Dr. Adrian Rees is a GP Partner in an NHS practice in north Leeds for 14,500 patients. He qualified as a doctor from the University of Leicester in 2000, and as a GP in 2005.  He undertook his hospital training in Leicester Hospitals and have worked in A&E, Paediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, General Medicine, and Psychiatry.  He is a GP trainer and an Honorary Lecturer at the University of Leeds Medical School, he has been undertaking medico legal work since 2015, and is a Director of Inspire Medilaw, a leading medico legal training company. His medico legal caseload is primarily clinical negligence, and he undertakes cases in Ireland, and the UK.  He also undertakes professional conduct cases and personal injury and has given evidence in Court in all these areas. Outside of work, he lives with his wife and 2 children and his dog!  He enjoys running and will be running the London Marathon for a second time in April 2024, and he regularly competes in triathlons.

Professor Conor Burke was educated in Blackrock College and graduated in Medicine from University College Dublin (UCD).  He trained in General Internal Medicine in Dublin Teaching Hospitals. He then completed a three-year Fellowship in Respiratory Medicine in Stanford University in California. He returned to Ireland on his appointment as a Consultant Respiratory Physician in Connolly and Mater University Hospitals and subsequently as Professor of Medicine in UCD.  He served a three-year term as Clinical Director in Connolly Hospital/Royal College of Surgeons Hospital Group. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in Ireland, a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in London, a Fellow of the College of Chest Physicians (U.S.A.) and a Fellow of the Faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine (RCSI). Professor Burke has served on Government Committees; the Health Research Board; The Council of the Royal College of Physicians in Ireland.  He has also served as Vice President of the College and as Honorary Medical Advisor to the Adoption Board. His specialist interests in Respiratory Medicine include inflammatory airway disease and asthma, occupational lung disease and lung transplantation. Professor Burke has authored medical, legal and occupational health reports for twenty years. He has served as an expert witness in many High Court Litigations.  He recently completed the Harvard University Law School Dispute Mediation Programme allowing him to offer additional mediation services.

Caoimhe Daly is a practising barrister called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2005 and the Bar of Ireland in 2009.  In addition to being a member of the Law Library she is a member of QEB Hollis Whiteman Chambers, London.  Caoimhe specialises in medical law, in particular professional regulatory law, clinical negligence, and coroners’ inquests.
