The 2020 CPD cycle instituted under the CPD Regulation (Solicitors (Continuing Professional Development) Regulations, 2017) S.I. 529 of 2017 came into effect on the 1st January 2020 and continues to run for the calendar year 2023
Every very solicitor who is a sole practitioner or a compliance partner and/or an anti-money laundering compliance partner now has a CPD requirement which includes a minimum of 3 hours regulatory matters at least 2 hours of which shall be accounting and anti-money laundering compliance matters.
To meet these requirements this seminar (with two to follow in the current year) will focus on the following key areas.

JIM RYAN – ANTI MONEY LAUNDERING ESSENTIAL CONSIDERATIONS AND NEW SOLICITORS ACCOUNTS REGULATIONS: PREPARING FOR LAW SOCIETY
Jim Ryan is an Investigating Accountant of the Law Society. He is responsible for inspecting solicitors’ practices for compliance with the Solicitors Accounts Regulations, 2014 and reporting to the Regulation of Practice Committee
RORY O’NEILL CYBER SECURITY UPDATES
Rory is the Financial Controller of the Compensation fund and was an Investigating Accountant of the Law Society. He was responsible for inspecting solicitors’ practices for compliance with the Solicitors Accounts Regulations Act, 2014 and reported to the Law Society’s Regulation of Practice Committee. Rory also advised on risks to practices associated with Cyber Security and Fraudulent dealings.
