Laura Fannin is a partner in the Commercial & Business team at Hayes solicitors and leads the firm’s data protection and privacy offering.
Laura has over 15 years of experience specialising in data protection and privacy law and has a deep understanding of data protection and privacy law. She is renowned among peers and clients for her expertise in data protection and privacy law, including the GDPR.
In addition to her data protection and privacy work, Laura also advises clients on commercial contracts, artificial intelligence, consumer protection, intellectual property and information technology.
Laura has a broad client base across key business sectors, including retail, manufacturing, financial services, advertising & marketing, fast moving consumer goods (FMCG), motor and food.
Eamonn Maguire has worked for the Law Society over many years, across several roles. He was previously responsible for regulating solicitors’ advertising, and was secretary to the advertising sub-division of the Regulation of Practice Committee. Following this, Eamonn worked as the Law Society’s Complaints and Compliance Manager, ensuring the orderly wind-up of the Complaints and Client Relations Section. In his current role as Regulatory Communications Manager, Eamonn is focused on improving the way the Law Society supports and guides solicitors in meeting their regulatory obligations. Eamonn is also secretary to the Guidance and Ethics Committee.
Dr Brian Doherty is the Chief Executive Officer of the Legal Service Regulatory Authority. He was called to the Bar in 1996 and initially practised in Belfast. He joined the Office of the Police Ombudsman for Northern Ireland when it was set up in 2000 as one of the first civilian investigators, working on allegations of misconduct against the then RUC, later the Police Service of Northern Ireland. In 2007 he moved to the Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission as a senior investigating officer, later progressing to acting Deputy Director of Investigations. He returned to the Northern Ireland Police Ombudsman in 2014 to run the Current Investigations Directorate. Brian took up post as the CEO of the LSRA in September 2017
