Dear All,

Happy Christmas and a Happy New Year to all when it comes.

We hope that the festive holidays bring rest for all and an opportunity to reflect on the year that has gone and the year that is to come.

The DSBA hopes that we have been of help to our members in 2023. We thank all those who assisted on some of the issues which required our attention during 2023. Of particular note was the change in the system of enduring powers of attorney, criminal legal aid pay restoration, supporting our colleagues at the Bar in their day of action, the continuation of our work on our precedent database and our Commercial Law Committee launched the specimen Asset Purchase Agreement.  It is also worth mentioning all of our social and sporting events that bring us all together.

Our Court Services Users Committee work all year round as do our committees to ensure that the manner in which we provide legal services and the knowledge we bring to our clients and other Court users can be improved when required.

We spare a thought for all those who passed away in 2023 and for those who have lost loved ones in the past year.

Please do enjoy your break. Perhaps we can all spare a thought to reflect on the challenges that exist for those who are less fortunate that we are both at home and abroad, especially in these difficult times in regions around the world where once stable democracies are no longer peaceful. We hope that the rule of law will be available for all.
