The Decision Support Services (DSS) has announced that the Assisted Decision-Making (Capacity) Act 2015 (‘2015 Act’) will commence in June 2022.
The 2015 Act requires the DSS to establish and maintain panels of trained experts to assist the DSS in its functions.
The DSS is looking to establish a panel of decision-making representatives (‘the Panel’) and is seeking applications from suitably qualified individuals to join the Panel. It is anticipated that this will be a role suitable for solicitors. For phase one, the DSS is seeking to appoint approximately 125 panel members.
The closing date for applications is 16th February, 2022 and full details are set out in the link below.
The DSBA Mental Health and Capacity Committee, will be holding information seminars during the year to assist practitioners in preparing for the implementation of the 2015 Act.
